Insurance Fraud: Co-counsel for Tina B. v. National Medical Enterprises, Inc. Represented 185 plaintiffs who were involuntarily committed to three separate psychiatric hospitals in Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C.; multi-million dollar settlement with physicians and corporate defendant.
Pharmaceutical Litigation: Co-counsel for Fen-Phen diet drug litigation involving Federal class action and multi-district transfer litigation. Trial counsel in Maryland and Delaware for individual personal injury and wrongful death cases.
Tobacco Litigation: Civil Trial Attorney for the State of Maryland v. Philip Morris, Inc., et al., to
recover Medicaid funds expended on tobacco related diseases. Case resulted in record $4.2 billion
dollar settlement for the State; Co-Lead Counsel for class-action lawsuit in Brooklyn,
New York entitled National Asbestos Workers v. Philip Morris, to recover medical
expenditures for Health and Welfare Trust Funds. Also served as counsel in Class Action cases of
Richardson, filed April 1996, certified as a statewide class action on behalf of Maryland
smokes with injury and addiction, case decertified in June 2000; Reed case in Washington D.C.;
Cosentino in New Jersey; originally assigned to Castano national class action litigation in New Orleans.
Polybutylene Plumbing: Co-counsel on Villager Lodge v. Shell Oil, Co., et al., litigation
in Houston, Texas that resulted in multi-million dollar settlement; Lead counsel in HM Land v. Shell Oil Co., et al., in Harford County, Maryland, settlement for twelve local housing developers.
